Improved Dillon Plunger Cam (IDPC)

The Improved Dillon Plunger Cam fixes some long standing problems with the OEM part.

First, the OEM cam is entirely too short, not engaging the case plunger roller until the head is past its halfway point. This can result in case jams in the plunger.

Second, the OEM cam angle of engagement is too steep, forcing the case plunger back at a higher speed, which can cause the plunger to lift under the cover. The lifting can also cause cases to misfeed into the plunger, leaving them out of position for insertion in the shell plate.

Third, the OEM cam is too thin. The stamped metal is prone to bending when used on automated systems. Additionally, the thin engagement wears the roller unevenly, causing uneven pressure on the plunger shoulder bolt, bending or breaking them over time.

We fixed these problems by lengthening the cam surface so the roller is engaged almost immediately when the head comes down. We changed the cam angel to a more gentle profile that allows a smoother operation of the plunger. We increased the thickness of the cam almost 2.5x the OEM part and machined them from 1018 steel.

The IDPC will work on the Super 1050/RL1100/CP2000. This is a direct replacement for Dillon part 13161.
